“Hi! My name is Alexis Bridges, and I am thrilled to join St. Mary's Catholic School as the newest 5th-grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but I recently graduated from Ohio Northern University with a secondary language arts education degree this past May. I am passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. Although I am a first-year teacher, I have had many teaching experiences that have prepared me immensely for this position. I have worked at Chatham University for the Chatham Music and Arts Day Camp in Pittsburgh for two years, where I developed lesson plans for multiple subjects (creative writing, improvisational acting, literature. imagination ink, and comedy) for seven periods of classes for students from diverse backgrounds of grades ranging from second to eighth. I also had the opportunity to experience teaching 11th-grade English during my student teaching placement at Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. My commitment to the values of Catholic education, combined with my dedication to nurturing each student's unique potential, drives my enthusiasm for teaching. I am eager to contribute to the academic and spiritual growth of our students and to become an active member of this wonderful school community”
Alexis attended Catholic school growing up in Pennsylvania and she understands the focus and the mission of Catholic education. She will be a great addition to our staff, and today I rejoice, for God has shown again His love and faithfulness to our school!
