Happy Friday, SMCS Families! ![]() Catholic Schools Week Is Here! Catholic Schools Week is here! We are looking forward to a week of fun activities and learning. You can see the flyer here where you will find the schedule of activities for the week. Please share it with your child(ren). We have included 3 color days with one being a comfy pajama day (modest pants and tops). All 3 days must follow modesty guidelines according to the dress code in our parent/student handbook. Feast of St. Blaise Blessing of throats will take place in the morning on February 3rd. The Church recalls a miracle cure associated with St. Blaise and celebrates the blessing of the throats with candles. St. Blaise was a physician and bishop. Year Long School Theme Our Catholic Identity Committee is initiating a year-long school theme as a way to unify the school year while building school spirit. Our first theme however will be slightly longer as it will be the theme for the remainder of this academic year as the 2021-2022 school year. Our first theme is Family! For the rest of the school year we will focus on Our Family – What does family mean? What does family mean to you? We will end our school day with the Family Prayer as seen below. The opening line reads, “God made us a family.” Over the course of the Family theme we will focus on different families: our school family, The Holy Family, the parish family, our community family. Each day as we recite the Family Prayer we will be reminded of the precious God-given gift of family. Family PrayerGod made us a family. We need one another. We love one another. We forgive one another. We work together. We play together. We worship together. Together we use God’s word. Together we grow in Christ. Together we love all people. Together we serve our God. Together we hope for heaven. These are our hopes and ideals. Help us to attain them, O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
